Farrell Finishes Summer Campaign.
bCM Motorsports Marketing posted Tuesday April 20, 2010.

Ryan Farrell’s summer Sprintcar campaign certainly showed just how fierce a competitor this hard charger from Western Australia can be. He stood up to the pressure cooker that is World Series Sprintcars, put in sterling drives that had the fans screaming for more at the big shows and can walk away with his held high. But for Farrell the season didn’t end the way he wanted.

Returning to his home base of Perth he so wanted to close out the season for the Monte Motorsport Team with a win in the Gold Cup. Things looked good early when he was able to time trial in fourth with a time of 14.049 seconds on what was the tackiest race surface seen this year at the Perth Motorplex.

The big thing Farrell has tried to achieve this summer is consistent good car speed and he has found it on most nights and the final meeting at the Perth Motorplex wasn’t any different. He showed just how quick he was in his opening heat with a run from the rear of the field (tenth) to third and looked set for a good evening at the office.

Little did he and the team know it was all about to go pear shaped as at the start of heat two he had a collision with team owner Luch Monte that sent him in to series of flips that caused extensive damage to almost every bolt on piece of equipment on the #95 J&J. A mad thrash in the pits got the car back together just in time to start the Gold Cup finale but the effort would end with a DNF.

Not long into the twenty five lap final it all came undone as contact from another car with his right rear exploded the tyre and ended his night prematurely. At the end of the night Farrell was naturally disappointed in the final result but could still be proud of what he and his team have achieved this summer.

“It was an unfortunate result tonight as we really had some car speed. Buzzy (Kim Buswell – Crew Chief) couldn’t be here tonight, but we have a good handle of the car around this place but even with out Buzzy we went in to tonight with plenty of confidence for a good result” he said in the pits afterwards. “The heat where we come together with Luch really put the pressure on us as it destroyed pretty well everything except the chassis and we only just made it out for the main. We didn’t have time to fine tune the chassis but I still felt we had a good enough car for a podium finish, but I thought I gave Kye Scroop enough room but he got into the right rear and cut it down. That’s racing and that’s how it goes.”

From this point on its full steam ahead for the Monte Motorsports team as they set their sights on the upcoming Australian Championship in Darwin at the end of May, and then the four round AHG mini series to be held in the North-west of Western Australia.
