A-main Success For Farrell
Farrell PR - BCM posted Wednesday March 10, 2010.
It has taken a while but finally Ryan Farrell has claimed an A-Main event win, claiming the Watsons Express Transport final at the Perth Motorplex last weekend.
He has been on the road for months chasing World Series Sprintcars glory and has come oh so close too many wins only to finish with a number of podiums against his name. So to finally take a win for the Monte Motorsports team was a welcome one.
Just how tough has this summer been to Farrell? Well his quote in the recent edition of Oval Express Magazine probably sums it up the best “I’ve raced harder this year for fourths and fifths than I have to win races in the past……” Needless to say Farrell was a happy man at the end of the night.
The night started with one of the tackiest surfaces seen at the Motorplex this season and from the outset Farrell didn’t disappoint the crowd that was on hand. He started the night with a 15.821 time trial, good enough for second fastest. He then showed just how much he had learnt out on the road with a blistering drive in his opening heat, starting from position nine and blowing the opposition away and taking a fine win.
He continued this form in to his next heat, once again starting from the back of the pack (position seven) and making another brilliant run, passing cars high and low to notch up a fine second place.
Come the final and Farrell had to work hard. Starting from position eight he knew he had his work cut out as the field spread out early and he picked off the opposition one at a time. By mid race distance he had secured second and was running down the leader, when luck for once went his way.
Mechanical problems for leader Ben Ellement saw him withdraw and Farrell showed the rest of the AHG Series field a clean pair of heels as he drove away in brilliant fashion and was never pressured for the win.
Afterwards the obviously happy winner said “It’s good to come home and race in front of the WA fans, I have missed that but we are enjoying being on the road. Buzzy and Dill gave me a hot rod tonight and I could have put it anywhere I wanted to go on the track. I’m really looking forward to the next few years of this deal with Monte Motorsport and Luch has extended Monte Motorsports to New Zealand during Easter this year. The final plans are nearly in place but I will tell you more about that later. Thanks to the guys once again for an awesome car”
Farrell now heads to Victoria where he will contest the Victorian Sprintcar Championship, driving the ADRAD #4 car for good friend Trevor Green.
