Adapting Is The Key For Ryan Farrell.
Farrell PR - BCM posted Friday February 26, 2010.
For west coast hard charger Ryan Farrell the road to success has been stifled by the need to adapt to a new chassis, but he is determined to make it work at this weekends Krikke Boys Shootout.
In what should have been a enjoyable return home to Western Australia, Farrell and the crew of the Monte Motorsports #95 have been under the pump since the good results at the World Series finales, especially since writing off their primary J&J chassis a couple of weeks ago at Collie Speedway.
“It was a tough night in tough company last weekend at the Motorplex” he said this week “The new car feels like its got a lot of potential, obviously it was a little different from the other car and having to roll out a brand new car against this kind of company was always going to be tough. We were always going to be at a disadvantage after we damaged the other car but I was optimistic about how it would go and I still am. We made some big changes on the car over the two nights and I feel we made some big gains but obviously it wasn’t quite enough.”
“It seems funny but I’m usually a lot faster earlier in the feature race and still come home strong, where as this car comes on a little later in the event. Maybe we need to make the finals longer (smiles). It’s more evident that we certainly came home strong later in the race with this car but we will be okay.”
Most people would be happy with two fifth place finishes over the two A-Mains run last weekend, but Farrell believes, and rightly so, that the Miracle Recreation Equipment #95 should be taking out wins and he wont be relax until he does. This weekend is the biggest of the year in Farrell’s mind, but he has become more philosophical about his approach to the Krikke Boys Shootout. As much as he would love to win it he also understands that this weekend is about the fans too.
“The fans are a big part of the sport as with out the fans we don’t have the recognition or the appreciation for what we achieve out on the track. We also need them as with out them we won’t get the prize money that we get back in return for what we do either. But the race itself is something that I used to get myself all wound up about, but you know the way I look at it now is the day I’m good enough to win it, I’ll win it and I’m hoping it will be this weekend coming.”
There will be plenty of fans cheering him on this weekend as Farrell takes on the toughest field ever seen at the Krikke Boys Shootout – You’d be mad if you missed this one!
